Jose Daniel Contreras Jr., age 55, died at Yakima Regional Hospital, on March 20, 2013. Jose was born on May 2, 1957 in Caldwell, Idaho, to Jose Daniel Sr. and Evangelina Contreras. On May 10, 1980, Jose Daniel Contreras married Alma Delia Garza.
Jose Daniel Contreras lived in Toppenish for 22 years and worked at Washington State Migrant Council as a bus driver and custodian until he retired in the year of 2007. Jose will be especially remembered for his love of music, his ability to make friends, and being a fan of the Casino. His family will remember him for the great love he showed his children and grandchildren. They will forever miss him. Jose is survived by, his wife, Alma Contreras of Toppenish; Children, Jose Daniel Contreras III and Estella Denisse Contreras of Toppenish; Grandchildren, Jose Daniel Contreras IV, Dezzanie A. Contreras, Alina Garcia, Alexia D. Contreras, Makeyla Garcia, Victoria E. Contreras; his mother Evangelina Contreras; sisters, Maria Ellena Bracamontes of Tijuana, Mexico, Ana Maria Montez of Pasco, WA, Olga Lidia Contreras of Toppenish, WA and brothers Juan Contreras of Pasco, WA, Santiago Contreras of Grandview, WA, Jorge Contreras of Harrah, WA, and Ivan Contreras of Toppenish, WA.
He was preceded in death by his father Jose Daniel Contreras Sr. and sister Eva Marina Contreras.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m., all at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloyius Catholic Church in Toppenish. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.
