Jose “Pino” Alvarado, 87, of Mabton died Friday, March 1, 2013. Mr. Alvarado was born in Mercedes, Texas, and lived in the Valley for more than 50 years. He was an agricultural laborer. Survivors include two sons, Tootie Delafuente and Benito Delafuen, both of Mabton; three daughters, Stella Sicairos and Beatrice Gonzalez, both of Mabton, and Yolanda Gomez of Sunnyside; a brother, Pedro Alvarado of Mabton; three sisters, Marisa Nordmo of Sunnyside, May Glass of Spokane and Sally Alvarez of Moses Lake; 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with recital of the rosary at 6 p.m., at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton. Graveside services will follow in the Mabton City Cemetery.
