Jon Anderson

Jon E. Anderson Uncle, Brother, Guapo, Friend Jon completed his earthly life on January 15, 2023 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 8, 1959 in Lewiston Idaho to Enos and Wynema Anderson. Jon, his mom, and sister Karen lived in Fort Hall Idaho so he could attend kindergarten while his father moved to Zillah for a new job with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The family then moved to Zillah in 1965 to join their dad where Jon completed his schooling. Jon and Karen stayed close to family in Idaho over the years and made annual trips to visit. Jon made many lifelong friends during his lifetime and was well known for his quick wit and wicked sense of humor. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh and always seemed to find humor in most situations. Jon was a regular fixture in Zillah and enjoyed visiting with everyone. Jon loved to build model cars when he was younger and hand painted most of them. He even painted a mural on a model panel truck and won best of show for his efforts! He later painted a bicycle for a young man in Sunnyside that also won best of show. Jon’s passion moved to the real thing as he got older and he spent many years working for Dan Winkler in the body shop restoring and painting cars. He even painted an airplane for a friend! Later in life Jon worked for the Fergus family at Avalanche Distributing in Zillah. He enjoyed his work and the Fergus family were wonderful support for him. Jon and Derek Fergus developed a lifelong friendship that lasted until the end. Jon’s passion for cars never left him and he owned several classic cars over the years. He was a dreamer and always had projects lined up to work on. Jon also enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Travis and Alec, working on their projects. We will always be grateful for the time we had with him. Jon is survived by his sister Karen (Rick) Derrey, nephew Travis (Laura) Derrey, and many close friends along with family members in Idaho and Montana. Jon was preceded in death by his parents Enos and Wynema, nephew Alec, best friend Herb Rowland, and his beloved pets.
