John Rinehart

March 27, 1956 — April 18, 2025

John Rinehart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on April 18th, 2025, at the age of 69. He was born on March 27th, 1956, in Yakima, Washington, to Douglas and Shirley Rinehart. A graduate of Grandview High School in 1974, John had a passion for music and sports. He played tennis in high school and was a talented baritone horn player in the school band. His love for music continued throughout his life, one of his favorite pastimes was listening to tunes with a good drink. Shortly after high school, John met the love of his life, Doreen Knight, at her graduation party. They married on September 9th, 1978, and together they raised a family in their home town of Grandview. John was best known in the Grandview community for his years of service at the local post office, where he worked from 1980 until his retirement in 2011. His infectious sense of humor and quick wit made him a favorite among customers, and he enjoyed brightening their day with jokes and stories. John's love of the outdoors was evident in his many adventures on the water. He cherished weekends spent boating and pulling tubes on the Snake River, with his favorite summer tradition being the annual trips to Potholes Reservoir. After retiring, John enjoyed spending time at Badger Lake, fishing and boating with family and friends. John was also a life-long motorcycle enthusiast, one of his prized possessions was his Harley-Davidson. John had a gift for storytelling and was always ready with a joke to make everyone around him laugh. His warmth, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John is survived by his loving wife, Doreen Rinehart; his two children, Jennifer and Jacob (Hannah) Rinehart; four grandchildren, Ava, Jackson, Harvey, and Cal Rinehart; and his siblings, Pamela (Michael) Horner, Barbara (Jurgen) Rissmann, and Don Rinehart.
