John Morris

May 10, 1951 — December 26, 2013

John E. Morris Jr. “Butch” 62 of Grandview, surrounded by his family at home, went to join his Dad in Heaven on December 26th 2013. Born in Prosser on May 10, 1951, he grew up in Grandview and attended Grandview Schools. In 1969 he joined the Army where he was stationed in Korea before serving proudly in Vietnam. In 1971 he came home with a honorable discharge. He married Charlene Eakman and they had a daughter Jerrie Lyn. Butch joined the Insulators Union Local 82 when he returned home from the service. He then started working at Hanford and was a member for 25 years. Having retired early he spent many winters in Casa Grande, Arizona, where he made life-long friends, but in 2011 he came home for good to be near family to help out with his dad, who had his health issues. Butch was always on call with a helping hand and the biggest smile. This August Butch married his sweetie of six years, Georgia, who just last month were able to return to Casa Grande, as he would say his farewells visit (she called it their honeymoon). Butch is survived by his wife Georgia (Scriven) Morris, his daughter Jerrie Lyn Morris Thomas and husband Gary Thomas. Granddaughter’s Jaelynn and Becka Lyn Morris all from Prosser, a step daughter Jackie Hughes and grandson Dreason and Devyn Hughes of West Richland. Also survived by his mother Margaret Morris, sister Lynda Morris Phillips and special brother-in-Law Russell Phillips, best pal, brother Kevin Morris all of Grandview and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins. Butch was preceded in death by his father; John E. Morris Sr. this last year, his step-son Jimmy Walsh and both sets of his grandparents; Altha and Hollie Morris, Ora and Ed Paulson. Butch did not want it to be known that he fought a tough battle with cancer, but he did … eight months long …he kept his sense of humor, letting you know that you were dealing with a RED HAIR guy with freckles. He will be missed by many for sure! Butch was blessed with the care he got from Washington Hematology-Oncology, Dr. Goldy Bansal, Dr. Brady and staff, who in return made you feel special when you walked through the door. Donations would be appreciated to the Lower Valley Hospice. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 4, 2014 in Grandview at the Family Life Church (Formerly Grandview Assembly of God). At 1:00 pm. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of John Morris, please visit our flower store.
