John McDonald, aka "Johnny Bill", passed away January 1, 2023 in Union Gap. He was born
to Patrick and Erline (Peterson) McDonald on April 28, 1948. John grew up in Toppenish where
he had many friends. After high school, he went to work for Western Packing Co. In 1976, he
moved to the Tri-Cities to work with his family in a meat packing plant. After it closed, he
worked for Hanford for many years and made lots of wonderful friends. When the effects of
being born with Cerebral Palsy finally started to catch up with him he did part time jobs. He
was fiercely independent and lived alone until 4 ears ago when he was forced to move to
assisted living. In 2019, he moved to Yakima to be closer to his sister.
John is survived by his sister, Mary Jane (Robert) Gasseling, his brothers, Robert (Pat Carter)
and Ross (Carrie Hutton). He is, also, survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family
and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, in Wapato, Thursday,
January 12, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., preceded at 9:00 by a Rosary for those who wish to attend.
John's final resting place will be at Wapato Reservation Cemetery.
