John Richard Jackson, Jr. (51)
John Jackson went to be with our Lord, July 20, 2017. He was born, May 19, 1966 to Shirley and John Jackson, Sr. in Yakima, Washington.
John is preceded in death by his Uncle Don Kuehn, his beloved NaNa, Dorothy Moriarty and his father John Jackson, Sr.
John moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1980 with his mother and brother. He graduated from North Pole High School in 1984. Soon after graduation, John moved to Wrangell, Alaska to be with his grandparents and worked in the Alaska Pulp Lumber Mill. He worked there for approximately 10 years until the mill closed and he moved his family back to Yakima. While living in Yakima, he held down several jobs, ending with Culligan Water and was there for 10 years.
John was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
John is survived by his three sons: Derryn Henry (April) of Madisonville, TN, Nicholas Jackson (Alexa Dobbs) of Yakima, WA and Zachary Jackson of Yakima, WA; his mother Shirley and her husband Ken Matlack of Irrigon, OR; brother Dave Jackson (Chris) of Yakima, WA and sister Rebecca Hatten. John had five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
John’s love of life, his sons and rock and roll were tops on his list. He will be forever remembered most for his personality. He never had a shortage of one liner comebacks. His family often wondered if he didn’t miss his calling as a standup comedian. He made people laugh every place he went.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Lane, Yakima, WA)
John’s ashes will be buried with his beloved Grandmother in Naches, WA at a later date.
