John Heurion Obituary

John Heurion, 89 of Yakima died February 17, 2013 at the Cottage in the Meadow. Born January 13, 1924 in Detroit Michigan to parents John and Catherine (Mc Garvey) Heurion. At age 12, the family moved to a farm in Chelsea, Michigan. After High School, he worked at the Ford Bomber Plant. Later joined the Army Air Corp where he worked as an airplane mechanic on B-24s and B-29s. He held jobs with Ford Motor Company and Lincoln Mercury Agency. He moved to Big Timber, Montana to run a Motel - Gas Station with his parents. There he joined the Montana National Guard and worked as an AS&MT. He met Rose Mary Love, the gal of his life and they married in Power, Montana. They moved to Shelby Montana where he continued working for the National Guard and started their family.
He worked for the Rail Post Office (RPO) sorting mail enroute between Shelby, Montana and Williston, North Dakota. When the RPO dispended, he was transferred to the Yakima Post Office located at the Federal Building and later worked at the new Post Office on Washington. The last 5 years he was a Supervisor and retired in 1985. After retirement he volunteered at the Community Civic Center and the Sheriff's Station in Terrace Heights. He also volunteered for 13 years at the McAllister Air Museum, he was Charter Member #3.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Rose Mary; their children Carl (Deborah), Patty Dailey and Sandy, grandchildren Jordache Dailey, Desmond and Seth, his sister Janet Ganson (Phil), his sister-in-law Phylis, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jerome, sister Marge Myers, brother Bill and nephew Kyle.
