John Nicholas Garman, was born on July 18,1936, in Toppenish Washington, to Nick and Lydia Garman. John passed away in Toppenish Washington on August 25,2023.
John was the fourth of five children. He loved his brother and sisters very much, a bond that remained intact as they all grew older.
John grew up in Zillah, Washington. He attended school there and finished his senior year as Zillah High. He was a great athlete and played on the ZIllah Leopards basketball team. After high school he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard.
John settled in California after being discharged from the Coast guard. He had various jobs in the mechanical, janitorial and maintenance fields until he moved his family to Washington in 1986. He eventually retired from the Sunnyside school district in 2001.
John loved all of his family and friends. He loved family get togethers and catching up with those he had not seen in a while. He loved to barbecue, loved tending to his flowers and plants, and tinkering in his garage.
John was a good man. A man of character, integrity and of good reputation. He will be remembered by all who knew him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Lydia Garman, his sister Eleanor, his sister Marjorie and his brother Robert.
John is survived by his sister Helen, his wife of 50 years, Yvonne, his sons Greg Garman, Scott Garman, Tim Garman and Curtis Garman, and his daughter Debra Brown.
His services is at Zillah Resurrection Church at 11 am on September 9,2023 his burial will follow at Zillah Cemetery.
