John Eichholtz

February 11, 1925 — March 11, 2016

John Robert Eichholtz was born February 11, 1925 to Eva (Hetzler) Adams and James Adams in Pennsylvania. His mother later divorced and John and his sister Helen were adopted by her husband Verner Eichholtz. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, serving with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he attended college and moved to California, where he briefly worked in construction. He then worked for the next 20 years for the government at Lookout Mountain Studios in photography, working on classified films documenting early nuclear testing. He met Marianne Johnson and they were married in June, 1953. They had one son and one daughter. The film studio was closed in 1969 and he transferred to Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA and worked for the government until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, and hiking and some woodworking in his younger days and working at his computer in his later years. He liked to go on road trips with his son-in-law, exploring Washington State. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen and his loving wife Marianne after 57 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, John (Linda) Eichholtz, granddaughter Lindsey and grandson Keoni and his daughter Debra (Tod) Hillegeist and grandsons Matthew and Mitchell and granddaughter Rachel. We would like to thank his caregivers Josh, Karen, Gloria and Peggy for their wonderful care and the many hospice workers from Yakima Regional. There will be no services and John will be buried next to his wife Marianne in Denver, Colorado.
