John Raymond Collins

John was born November 9, 1961, in Toppenish, Washington to parents Theodore (Ted) and Helen Heinrich Collins of Granger. At the age of 10, the family moved to Zillah where he spent the rest of his life.

On July 31, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, he passed peacefully from this life to be with his Lord and Savior.

John graduated from Toppenish high school with the class of 1980. After high school he attended YVC and received an Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics, and then went onto work at the family business, Ted’s Auto Parts. In high school he was very involved in deMolay and went through the chairs to become Master Counselor. John treasured those memories and often spoke of his friends and time spent with that group. For many years John, and his brother and best friend Leonard, ran around the valley with their music business, Sound Show, bringing music to many dances and events. John always loved music of many genres, and still rotated through thousands of CD’s and enjoyed his guitar collection. He was passionate about Ham radio, and love of shooting and collecting a variety of difference guns.

John carried a strong Christian faith that he leaned on heavily through his illness. Friends from his Bible study group, and his church, kept him busy until his illness kept him from attending group functions.

John is survived by his sister Suzette Attebery and niece Kim Acacio; proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Leonard; his special uncle Raymond Heinrich; grandparents John and Mona Collins and Ed and Ferne Heinrich.

Viewing will be Friday, August 21, 3-7pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. John’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at West Valley Missionary Church, August 22 at 10 AM, with burial to follow at West Hills Cemetery. Lunch and reception to follow at West Valley Missionary
