Jim Ream's Obituary
| Jim was born in Yakima, Washinton at St. Elizabeth's Hospital on August 23, 1947 to Donald and Lorraine Ream. Jim grew up in Terrace Heights on a small family farm where, along with many chores, he and his sister Sandra milked the cows before and after school each day. His grandparents lived to each side of their family home and for a short time he enjoyed living with his grandfather Gunnar. | ||||||||
| While living in Yakima he had worked a few jobs, one being at Shields, others included Chinook Mobile Lodge and Trail Wagons where he worked with his Father, also meeting his life long friend Randy. In 1980 he left for California and found himself in Seaside, on the Monterey Bay, along with his then wife Hon Hon and their daughter Dawn. He worked several jobs there where he was able to utilize his gift of designing and building before getting into home construction on the peninsula. When a moretorium was placed on building, he and his daughter moved to Florida where he worked with and raised horses. Jim has always had a special relationship with animals and along with the horses he had 3 pot belly pigs that he adored, even sometimes taking them to the beach. It wasn't long before he heard from his friend, Bennett, in California, asking if he'd return and get back to home building. In 1998 Jim returned to California along with his new love, Deborah. They lived in Pacific Grove while Jim worked with different contractors, two very special, Peter Brown and Tom Long, on some wonderful homes, some winning awards. He met many people while building their homes, one couple becoming very special friends that he and Deborah have visited several times in recent years since leaving California. | ||||||||
| At a younger age Jim had a love for cars and at one time he thought he would follow that path as a career. He enjoyed building car models, once winning an award and one was featured at the World's Fair in Seattle. But his love for cars cannot compare with his passion for music which continued through his life, his collection of over 1200 record albums is testament to that with no single genre, he loved many. | ||||||||
| His great joy was knowing his daughter Dawn has married the man of her dreams and she would always be happy, safe and cared for. He often told her that he could rest easy knowing she is safe and loved. Jim had a deep love for the ocean. He and Dawn would spend time on weekends going through tidepools when they lived in California, collecting seashells and relocating tiny animals. They were so close that even though they were later seperated by the miles, they communicated every day. | ||||||||
| Jim passed away on September 17,2026 at home after losing his battle with cancer, his love Deborah never leaving his side. Jim was pre-deceased by his Mother, Lorraine (2009), his Father, Donald, (2014) his Sister, Sandra (2024). | ||||||||
