Jesus Campos, 92 longtime Sunnyside resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Jesus was born September 15, 1923 in Goliad Texas, the son of Costello and Maria (Salazar) Campos. He was one of 8 children, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He cherished the moments of his mother singing and he picked up her talent, soon he was singing and playing the guitar by memory. He also was a big baseball fan of the Red Sox. He met and married the love of his life Margarita Ayala on August 25, 1941. They later moved and made their home in Sunnyside Washington with their 7 children. He worked in Irrigation, the Hops of Golden Farms. Jesus was one of the members who helped shape the structure of Iglesia El Calvario in 1959.
Jesus is survived by his wife of 74 years Margarita Campos of Sunnyside, Four sons; Jesse Campos (Rachel, deceased), Gilbert Campos (Jan, deceased) Rosie, Daniel (Melva) Campos all of Pasco, David (Pat) Campos of Yakima. Three daughters; Celia (Arturo, deceased) Lopez of Sunnyside, Alicia (Juan) Garcia of Yakima, and Gloria (Tony) Garcia of Mabton. 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. One sister Victoria Rodriguez of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings, Daughter-in-law Rachel Campos, Jan Campos, and son-in-law Arturo Lopez, and 2 great granddaughters; Christy Lopez and Kenisha S. Garcia.
Viewing and visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with an evening service at 7:00 pm Thursday May 26, 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 27 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside followed by graveside services at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A reception will be held after graveside services at Valley Hills Funeral home reception area. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of all arrangements.
