Jessie Montgomery

Jessie Faye (Strode) Montgomery, age 90, died January 15, 2017 in Yakima, WA after many years with Alzheimer’s disease. She is preceded in death by her husband Sidney Montgomery. She was born on May 27, 1926 at Ferndale, WA, the daughter of Glenn and Martha Strode. The family moved to Bellingham where she was educated, graduating from Bellingham High School in 1944. In 1945 Jessie married Sidney Montgomery in Bellingham. In 1955 the family moved to Eastern Washington where Sidney taught for the Sunnyside School District for 31 years. Together they owned and operated an apple orchard on Cherry Hill at Granger. Jessie’s surviving family includes two daughters: Martha Presley and Louise Theis; a son and daughter-in-law James Melvin and Rebecca Lynn Montgomery of Yakima; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family wishes to give special thanks to Emerald Care for their loving care for many years and to Yakima Regional Hospice for their care the past 5 months. A private family graveside service was held at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima.
