Jess Smith

Jess Smith, born on May 27th 1938, passed away on December 5th, 2018 after fighting a losing battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving and incredibly supportive wife Vi, his son Chad, his daughter Laura and his three grandchildren Jake, Jordyn, and Evey, He worked 30 plus years as a metalurgist at Boeing developing and testing metals for rockets and the space shuttle. After retiring, he chased his dream of farming like his father. He took pride in his apple and cherry orchard; working the land with his dogs by his side. He loved fishing and rooting for his home teams, the Mariners and his beloved Seahawks. He lives on in the hearts of those he touched with his generosity and spirit. This is his legacy. He will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Ln., Yakima). In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to your local animal shelters in his name.
