Jerry St. Martin, of Gleed, died Sunday morning, July 13, 2014. He was 87. Jerry was born March 25, 1927 in Rapid City, SD to Gerry and Frances St. Martin. He grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota, moved to Selah, and was drafted in the US Army and served in WWII in Berlin. He was self employed as a stone mason for many years and enjoyed his family, friends, fishing, and camping with his dear friends Omar and Lula Maudlin, their daughter Terri (whom he thought of as a daughter) and her husband Andy Smith and their son Tyler. He was a strong, caring, generous Christian man of high integrity who was an active member of St. Paul’s Cathedral. The eldest of 13 children, he is survived by his brothers, Ted St. Martin (Barbara) of Jacksonville, FL, Jim St. Martin of Yakima, Don St. Martin (Margaret) of Naches, Gerard St. Martin (Linda) of Yakima; sisters, Joan French of Moscow, ID, Mary Schoch (Jim) of Yakima, Dorothy Gregorich (Bob) of Henderson, NV, Margie McDowell (Don) of Yakima, and DeeDee Thomas (Ken) of Yakima; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerry and Frances St. Martin, three brothers, Larry, Gregory, and Johnny St. Martin. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima at 5:30 with viewing and visitation from 3-6pm Thursday, July 17, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cathedral 9am Friday, July 18, 2014 with burial and Military Honors following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in care of the arrangements.
