Jerry Lee Risenhoover

Jerry Lee Risenhoover was born in Yakima, WA, on October 24, 1947, to James Marion and Dolly Laveta Risenhoover. After graduating from Davis High School in 1967, he joined the US Marine Corps and served 13 months in the Republic of Vietnam. Jerry's father taught him many mechanical skills that he passed on to his son Ronald, and his son then passed these skills on to his son Ethan. He enjoyed being in nature. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and hiker. He climbed Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, and hiked many trails in the Northwest. He lived in New York City with his family for a time, serving people experiencing homelessness. While in New York, he lived in the mansion of Fred Astaire, purchased by Adventist Services, located on Long Island. He returned to Yakima and operated a minor appliance repair and shoe shop in Selah. He retired from the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services. He traveled with his wife, Maryann, to China and as a missionary in Costa Rica. He battled with the hidden scars of war, but through faith became victorious. Survived by his wife of 29 years, Maryann, son Ronald (Christy), grandchildren Ethan and Elana of Yakima, daughter Janine Moser (Doug) of Lake Tapps, WA, sister Linda Elston (Russ) of Yakima, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. A memorial service will be held on May 31 at 2:00 at the Yakima Seventh-day Adventist Church, 507 North 35th Avenue.
