IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Darwon
Denning
March 6, 1944 – February 20, 2026
In Loving Memory of Jerry Denning
Jerry Denning was born on March 6, 1944, in La Grande, Oregon to Keith and Inez Denning. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026 in Yakima, Washington surrounded by his loving family. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jerry was a man of many talents and boundless determination. He began his career working in the logging industry, where he developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for honest labor. Through ambition and perseverance, he later became an executive for the largest jewelry company in the world, a role that reflected his leadership, vision, and gift for connecting with others. Yet, his greatest professional joy came in his final occupation: running a family dance studio alongside his beloved wife and daughter. The studio was a source of immense pride. There, Jerry helped nurture not only dancers, but confidence, creativity, and community. His encouragement and steady presence positively impacted countless students and families who came to love him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Keith Denning; his mother, Inez Denning; and his brother, Johnny Denning. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Ruthie Denning; sister Judy Denning; his sons, Keith Denning (Vicki), Kelly Denning (Joyce), and Todd Denning (Angie); and his daughter, Mindie Chervany (Jeff). He was a proud and loving Papa to his cherished grandchildren: Andre, Vanessa, Mabel, Connor, Cayden, and Ryan, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Beyond his professional life, Jerry embraced his passions wholeheartedly. He had a love for classic cars, enjoyed bicycling across California and Ohio, and somehow became a true computer aficionado. There was seemingly nothing he couldn’t fix. Whether it was a broken appliance, a technical problem, or a heavy heart, Jerry had a way of making things better. He possessed a rare gift for conversation and never met a stranger, only a friend he hadn’t yet gotten to know.
Jerry lived with a zest for life that was contagious. He loved making connections with every person he encountered, and he left a lasting impression wherever he went. He was a man who left a piece of himself in your heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Jerry’s name to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held this summer, with the date to be announced. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to reach out to the family for details.
Jerry’s legacy of love, generosity, and connection will live on in the many lives he touched.
