Janyce May Van Cleave

Janyce May Van Cleave (Wise) passed away July 27, 2026 in Sunnyside, WA. Born May 27, 1941 to Ellen Sheets and Lloyd Wise in Yakima, WA along with her twin sister, Joyce. Janyce and Joyce were the oldest of their siblings, Larry, Jane, and Randy.

After growing up in Moxee, she went on to graduate from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Yakima and then earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Washington.

She married James W. Van Cleave in 1966 living first in Snoqualmie, WA and later moving back to the lower valley. They lived the farm life, raising pears, apples, cows, and kids. They were married 60 years and had three children, Jill, Jay, and Jon. Janyce loved her family and especially loved all her grandchildren. All her life, she was always willing to help someone in need and ready to protect her loved ones. She rescued many an underdog calf and neighbor kid along the way.

She had a full life as a wife, mother, farmer, and RN. She especially enjoyed her work in the ER department, which she shared with her nursing friends. Some of her favorite memories were the beach trips they were able to take together sharing laughs and friendship.

Janyce was much loved and will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love for her family.

A graveside service will be held at the Zillah Cemetery on August 14th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
