Janet Moon

February 4, 1928 — December 28, 2022

YAKIMA - Janet E. Moon, 94, died Dec. 28, 2022 in her home, surrounded by her beloved family. Janet was born in Manson, Washington on February 4, 1928 to Donald C. Pittman and Georgia E. Frantz. She graduated Manson High School in 1946 and was the Apple Blossom Princess for Manson’s Apple Blossom festival. She met her groom, Bill Moon, while he was on leave from the Marine Corp. in the Lake Chelan area. They were married in Manson on Nov. 7, 1947. In 1962 they moved with their five children to Yakima, relocating to Gleed and moving into a home where she lived and raised her family for over 50 years. She began fruit packing in high school, working in different warehouses in Chelan, Wenatchee, and later Yakima at the Northwestern Fruit and Produce in 1965. She tried to retire several times, but they kept begging her back. Not sure if it was more for her masterful handling of their production schedule or the delicious sweets she’d always bring with her. She is survived by her sons Stan (Sheila) Moon of Richland and Russ (Darla) Moon of Yakima: daughters, Paula Moon of Naches and Carol (Terry) Baldridge of Lake Stevens, Washington; eight grandchildren, Kyle (Gina), Michelle, Tré (Kelly), Jon, Wendy (Devin), Ross (Stacy), Shane (Dani), Jacob; and thirteen great-grand children: Andrew, Joey, Hunter, Alexander, Ethan, Aiden, Vivianne, Lily, Zoey, Lauryn, Dean, Evelynne and Annaliese; her sister Evelyn Pearce of Cle Elum and brother Kendall Pittman of Chelan. Janet is the sixth of 12 siblings, she was preceded in death by her parents Donald C and Georgia, sisters Florence, Betty, Ethel and brothers Donald, Harold, Robert, George, Lowell, and Clair; her loving husband Bill; and her son Gary (Vickie) of Gleed. Wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, grandmother, and great grandmother. Janet, who will never be forgotten. We love you. Graveside service to be held 11 a. m. Thursday, January 12 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
