Janet Davis

Janet Rae (Dean) Teegarden Davis, 85, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022 at Emerald Care in Wapato, Washington. Janet was born on August 23, 1937 to Virgil and Mary Dean. She graduated from Wapato High School in 1956 and later, Fort Wright College in 1980, earning a BA in Education. She was married to Francis Gordon Teegarden from August 27, 1955 until his death on March 6, 1996. She later married Herbert “Smiley” Davis, who also predeceased her. Janet was first a homemaker. After her children started school, Janet was employed by the Wapato School District, working in the classroom until her retirement. Her interests included cooking, sewing, crafting, reading, and traveling. She especially enjoyed socializing with friends and took great pleasure in playing bingo. She also had a soft spot in her heart for pets and was rarely without a dog. Janet was survived by her three children, Mike Teegarden and his wife Carla, Susan Dissmore and her husband, Tim, and Nancy Gunning and her husband, Bob; three grandchildren Blake Matthews, Mike Teegarden and his wife, Justine, and Justin Dissmore; one great grandson, Jack Teegarden; her siblings, Sharon Suave, Richard Dean and Mary Ellen Rasberry, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, Gordon and Smiley and her grandson, Jeff Teegarden. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on January 7, 2023 at the Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato, WA, 218 W 3rd Street. Visitation is also available at the funeral home on January 6, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
