James Stollery

July 17, 1942 — June 5, 2017

Jim Stollery passed away peacefully with family surrounding him at Cottage in the Meadows on June 5, 2017. He was born in San Mateo, California on July 17, 1942, to Frederick Arnold and Rachel Day (Work) Stollery. Over his lifetime, Jim had many jobs, but his favorite ones were his last ones where he was a school bus driver and teacher aide for East Valley School District. He loved helping children and was greatly loved by them. Jim had an infectious laugh, enjoyed a party, and could light up any room. He had a great presence and was a one-man welcome wagon at St. Timonthy’s Episcopal Church where he was a member for more than 30 years. He was always willing to help in many ways with church projects and activities. He was regarded as one of the pillars of the church and was one of the “Fab Four” that maintained the church. He left a legacy of love, laughter, family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife Debbie Jean (Ruth) Stollery, his sisters Misty Judith (Bill) Dunn and Deborah Ann Stollery of Sacramento, California, his children Jason Stollery, David (Kelsey) Stollery, Leann (Eric) Breeding, Ted N. (Meghan) Thompson, and David (Kim) Thompson. His love for children meant that he had many natural and adopted grandchildren. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 1:00 pm, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Timothy’s.
