James M. “Mike” Lyon, Jr., born on January 17, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; passed away in Zillah, Washington, September 28, 2016.
Mike, son of Jim and Margaret Ann Lyon, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Tulsa area before moving to Wichita, Kansas, where he attend and graduated from Fr. Kapaun Memorial High School. Mike attended the Tulsa University and the University of San Francisco (USF). Mike was an active member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity at USF.
In 1990, Mike met the love of his life, Kristen Mathews, and they married the following year in 1991. They are the loves of each other’s lives had 25+ wonderful and unforgettable years together.
In 2001 Mike took a chance and pursued a dream. He came to Zillah with a vision, he saw the potential and turned a cow pasture into a vineyard and small winery; now known as Zillah Hills Vineyard and the Hoover and Rufus Label.
Mike’s kind spirt and generous nature made him a wonderful husband, father, friend and neighbor. His passing leaves a gap in the lives of all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kristen, son Jim, grandchildren, Berkley, Jimmy, Mackenzie, Sydney, in-laws Frank and Barbara Mathews and his sister Patty Taggart.
