James Egan

James Russell Egan M.D. was born to Fred and Pauline Egan (Russell) in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 28, 1937 and died February 13, 2023 in Yakima, Washington. He was raised and received his education in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1964. After completing his internships and residencies, he moved to Yakima in 1970 to practice ENT medicine with Dr. James Abbenhaus. Later, Dr. Mike Murphy and Dr. Rob Schefter joined them. In addition to being on the hospital board, Jim served two years as Chief of Staff at Providence Hospital. Jim married Kathryn Aarons on September 15, 1960. Together they had two children, Barbara and Edward. He later married Pamela Ludwig on August 20, 1983. Jim was an avid reader, enjoyed skiing at White Pass and spending time at the family cabin on Rimrock Lake. He loved watching his backyard birds and the wildlife around the cabin. He was dedicated to his profession and enjoyed getting to know his patients and taking care of them. Dr. Egan is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Pam, his son Edward and step-son Jason, granddaughter Troya Tillett, brother John Egan (Anne), and sister Mary. He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Barbara. Per his wishes, there with be no service. Jim will rest at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
