Obituary

Today we gather to celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many of us — our beloved Jaime “Chivo” Carrillo Lares

Born on June 6, 1972, in Puerto Peñasco, Chivo lived life unapologetically and on his own terms. On May 14, he left this world, leaving behind countless memories and a deep void in the hearts of the family, friends, and community who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his brothers Raul, Victor Ulises, Antonio, and Julio; his sisters Maria, Ana, Irma, and Maria “Mousie”; along with many beloved relatives and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory and carry his spirit with them.

Chivo’s greatest love was his family. He deeply loved his children — Angelica, Juan Daniel “JD,” Sebastian, Santos “JR,” and his little chicle, Amayita. He carried immense pride for each of them, and he showed that love every day in his own special way. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his granddaughter Amayita, whose presence brought him genuine joy and warmth.

If you knew Chivo, you knew there was never a dull moment around him. He had a personality that could fill a room, a sense of humor that caught you off guard, and a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable. You could find him walking around Tappas with his huge-ass Pepsi in hand, listening to Chalino or oldies, working on electronics, or relaxing with his blackberry Steel Reserves in hand. Those little things became part of who he was, and now they are the memories we will hold onto forever.

He is reunited in peace with those who preceded him in death: his parents, Jose Lares and Margarita Lares; his sisters, Josefina and Margarita; and his brothers, Marcos, Jesus, and Juanito.

There are certain people whose presence can never be replaced, and Chivo was one of those rare souls. The sound of his laugh, the music he played, the way he carried himself, and the memories he created with all of us will never fade. And of course, everyone who knew him will never forget hearing his favorite phrase — “WATTS UP!” Those words will forever echo in our hearts and remind us of the laughter and life he brought wherever he went.

Today, while we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life he lived, the laughter he gave us, and the love he leaves behind. Though our hearts are heavy, we know that the memories he created with all of us will never fade.

Rest easy, Chivo. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
