Jack Edward Heater, 85, of Yakima, died Friday, May 10, 2013. Jack was born in Spokane, WA on August 26, 1927. He grew up in Pasco and Yakima and was a lifelong resident of Eastern Washington State.
He graduated from Marquette High School in 1946 and attended Yakima Valley Junior College. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class and he was an excellent marksmen.
Jack worked for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern railroads for 42 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union. Jack enjoyed spending time with family and friends and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being in the mountains; he was very interested in wildlife. Jack was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Heater; son, Mike Heater; daughter, Michelle Heater; niece, Joy Evans; and cousins, Jessica, Jace, and Kayson Evans and Carol Ann and Gary Ross.
Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 12:00 noon on May 17 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. Online condolences can be made at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
