Obituary

Ivan García, age 24, of Mabton, Washington, passed away on January 27, 2026, as a result of a tragic workplace accident. He was deeply loved and will be forever remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and devotion to his family. Although our hearts are heavy with grief and there is a hollowness that now replaces where there once was life, we find comfort in the knowledge that he is in the Kingdom of Heaven, in the arms of our Father, where he now rests in eternal peace.

Ivan was absolutely hardworking and had so many goals ahead of him. He was kind, respectful, and compassionate; he shared a beautiful and unbreakable bond with his siblings, Alonso, Alicia, and Yesenia, whom he loved dearly. His family revolved around everything he did; his love shone with every smile he gave freely. Ivan carried an uplifting energy that lit up the room whenever he entered, no matter the crowd. His family was at the center of his life, and his loyalty and devotion were evident in everything he did.

He deeply loved his girlfriend, Sofia Salgado, whose presence gave him happiness, strength, and comfort. Their relationship was filled with love, respect, and shared dreams, and she held a special place in his heart.

From a young age, he loved getting his hands dirty, working alongside his father, Isaac, and his Uncle Raul, repairing semi-trucks and industrial equipment, a skill he embraced with pride and curiosity. He was always ready to learn and never afraid of hard work, always challenging it head-on with excitement and animation. At home, he especially enjoyed being by his mother's side. He would find solace cooking alongside his mother, enjoying laughter, stories, and love in the kitchen, moments that became cherished memories.

Nothing was impossible for Ivan. As soon as his eyes could peek over the steering wheel, he was ready to drive. He pursued every license he could obtain, including a CDL (Commercial Driver's License), a boating license, and a motorcycle license, all of which he earned through his determination, independence, and adventurous spirit. He completed years of intensive technical training and thousands of hours of hands-on field experience, mastering advanced electrical systems and linework skills. Ivan had passed all his certification exams and was preparing to graduate in March as a Journeyman Lineman, a remarkable achievement that reflected his discipline, perseverance, intelligence, and commitment to excellence.

By age 22, Ivan had bought his first home near his parents, showing his independence, responsibility, and desire to stay close to his family.

He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, where he found peace and adventure. Though his life was too short, it was full of purpose, joy, ambition, and love. Ivan leaves a legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family that will inspire everyone who knew him. Ivan never failed in jumping on a task or finding a way to serve others, no matter who they were; he had a heart of gold filled with infinite kindness and servitude.

He is survived by his parents, Isaac García, and Teresa García; his brother, Alonso García; his sisters, Yesenia García and Alicia García; his girlfriend, Sofia Salgado; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
