Isaac Simonian

May 28, 1923 — December 3, 2018

Isaac (Ike) Simonian, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his granddaughter, Trisha, great granddaughter, Cayla, and Cayla's husband, Alex, in the early morning hours of December 3, 2018. Ike is now "home" where he is reunited with several loved ones that passed away before him and with his heavenly father. Ike was born on May 28, 1923, in Crowley, CO to Misag and Shoeg Simonian. Ike picked up a hitchhiker, Elgeva (Billie) while on leave from the Army, and on June 21, 1946, he and Billie were married. Ike moved to Washington in the 50's with "a wife, 3 kids, $200, and no job," but quickly built a life for himself and his family. On April 4, 1959, Ike and Billie joined the LDS Church. He was very active in church and took his role as the self-assigned greeter seriously. Ike worked as a farmer for the Bouchey's in Harrah for quite some time and developed a great friendship with them that went above and beyond a typical employer-employee relationship, of which he maintained throughout all of his life. He also installed windows throughout Eastern Washington and could definitely "work harder, faster, and longer than any of those young'uns." After Ike retired (that word is used lightly) he did a lot of wood working in his shop to create beautiful, quality items that he gave away to friends and family members as a way to share his skill and talent with others. Ike enjoyed working in his yard, loved going to Lion's pool to water walk and talk with all of the ladies, and loved caring for Meowie, Fluffy, and Stinker (his cats). Ike is survived by his children, siblings, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. An informal gathering will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at noon at the LDS church located at 1414 South 72 Avenue in Yakima.
