Ignacio “Nacho” B. Martinez, 91, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025 surrounded by the love of his life, their children, and family.
Ignacio was born April 10, 1934, in New Braunfels, Texas to Cecilio Martinez and Florinda Barboza Martinez. Ignacio, a true Texan at heart, met the love of his life, Ignasia “Nacha” Martinez in 1950 and were married for nearly 73 years and better known to everyone as Nacho and Nacha. After living in Texas for 32 years, Ignacio and Ignasia moved to Washington State, where they lived the last 61 years. The two brought into their lives 9wonderful kids.
Ignacio worked hard as a field foreman in the orchard. After several years as a foreman, Ignacio worked as a janitor at the Toppenish hospital. Once retired he joined as a janitor at The Adam Moore Law Firm. Ignacio was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. Ignacio loved to work on cars and was an avid antique model car collector. His true passion was working in his yard with his wife Ignasia all while listening to Tejano music. Ignacio also enjoyed playing his guitar as he used to when he was in a band in his younger years. Ignacio loved to sit and talk to anyone and tell his life stories, regardless if you have heard them before.
Ignacio is survived by his beautiful wife of 73 years, Ignasia “Nancy” Martinez, Parker and their eight children; Ray(Anita) Martinez Yakima, Robert “Bob” Martinez, Union Gap, Richard “Rick” (Dawn), Martinez, Union Gap, Dora (Marvin) Martinez, Parker, Mary Jackson, Parker, Rachel (James) Lujan, Yakima, Dean (Jeri) Martinez, Yakima, Marisela “Marcie” (Hector) Rivera, Yakima, two sisters Linda (Steve) Randall, Parker, Mary “Cookie” (Margo) Ramos, Yakima and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ignacio is preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio Martinez and Florinda Martinez, his brothers Paul Martinez, Heriberto Martinez, Johnny Martinez and Margarito Martinez, two sisters Sally Gonzalez and Concha Reyna, his oldest son Lupe Martinez, son-in-law John Jackson and grandchild Krystal L. Lujan.
Valley Hills Funeral is in charge of the services.
Services will be on June 21, 2025, at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima from 1200 PM to 7 PM with a Rosary from
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
A reception to follow at the VFW on 5th Ave in Yakima from 7 PM to 11 PM
