Helen Ann Lisle was born on March 19, 1942 to John Wallace Gipson and Helen Glendoris Gipson in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Permian High School and went on to Odessa Junior College to study education, where she met her future husband, Glen W. Lisle. They married on September 6th, 1963. They moved to Nacogdoches, TX where Helen worked at a gas station to help Glen get through college. They moved briefly to Maryland before Glen was drafted to Vietnam and then they relocated to Toppenish, Washington after he returned. Helen worked at Toppenish Middle School as a Para educator in the reading program. She was well loved by all the students she worked with; as she accepted and helped each student that came through her door, encouraging each student and believing in their potential. Helen loved working with children of all ages, and led numerous Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School weeks at Calvary Baptist Church, where she and Glen attended for over 50 years. She told everyone she knew about her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Helen was an avid golfer in her youth, and enjoyed cross country skiing, gardening, reading, water walking and fishing as well. Her love for animals led her to own many rescued dogs, each of them becoming a beloved family pet. Helen is preceeded in death by her parents John and Helen Gipson, her husband Glen W. Lisle, Jr., her daughter Sharon “Jan” Besel, and her grandson Jordan Besel. She is survived by her sister Sharon (Gary) Bishop, brother Johnny (Jody) Gipson, son John (Jennifer) Lisle, Grandson Jude Lisle, Granddaughter Jasmine Besel, and great grandson Riley McCoy, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
