Guadalupe Torres

December 10, 1945 — January 5, 2023

Guadalupe (Lupe) S. Torres Guadalupe “Lupe” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on January 5, 2023. Lupe was born on December 10, 1945 in Casa Grande, Arizona to Biterbo and Filomena Salinas. In 1951 her family moved and settled in the Lower Valley where she attended school in Granger, WA. It was 1962 when Lupe met the love of her life, Joe J. Torres (Juan) on a Sunday at Liberty Theatre in Toppenish, WA. It was love at first sight. The two were married on October 26, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA. Together Lupe and Juan spent 59 loving years together and shared three beautiful children: Joe J. Torres Jr., Angela Torres and Marylou Campos. After they were married, Lupe spent about five years working in agriculture where she worked with hops, asparagus, apples, grapes, sugar beets and whole green beans. Soon after, she received her GED and in 1968 started work with the Granger School District as a para educator and spent the remainder of her years as a home visitor. She retired in 2001. Lupe enjoyed her 32 years of work with the Granger School District, her coworkers, and most of all, the families she was able to help and work with. She was a pillar in the community and truly cared about the future of the children in Granger. In Lupe’s free time, she loved to needle point, crotchet, solve cross word puzzles, was an avid bowler (20 years), watch her tv programs and loved to tend to her garden. Above all, Lupe loved to spend time with her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were everything to her. There were many barbeques and holidays that were endlessly spent together with nights of her favorite games-Yahtzee and 10,000, along with trivia games the kids brought over. We will continue our time together doing her favorite things in her honor. Lupe is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joe J. Torres; her daughter Marylou Campos (Eugene);her daughter-in-law Carmen Torres; five grandchildren, Angelica (Angel) Golob (Justin), Joe J. Torres III, Felipe Torres, Roxanne Torres-Villarruel (Chris), Miguel Campos (Jessica); seven great grandchildren, Hailey Golob (Ismael), Jaylin Golob, Amaree Golob, CJ Torres, Izabella (Bella) Villarruel, MJ Campos and Judah Campos; five sisters, Maggie Gonzalez, Maria Solis, Anna Manjarrez, Josefina Sanchez, Cruz Salazar; and one brother, San Juan Salinas. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Biterbo and Filomena Salinas; son, Joe J. Torres Jr.; daughter, Angela Torres; mother in law, Josefina Alegria; sisters and brothers, Antonia (Tonia) Gonzalez, Simon Salinas, Biterbo (Turbi) Salinas Jr., Jesusita (Susie) Martinez, Violanda (Viola) Salinas, Martina (Tina) Salinas, Paula Estrada, Francisco (Frank) Salinas, Romolo (Gramps) Salinas and Robert Salinas.
