Gertrude was born March 4, 1922 in Ozark Co. Missouri to Willis and Ada (Evans) Hensley. She was one of five sisters. After marrying Boyd D. Delp and having two children, Ron and Donna, they moved to Zillah in 1945. They were accompanied by her parents and younger sisters. Sue and Joe were born to the family in Zillah.
Boyd’s early death in 1969 left Gertrude to go on alone. She worked at CalPac (Del Monte) as a seasonal worker for 32 years.
Her favorite things to keep her active and busy were: flower gardening, sewing lovely quilts for her grandchildren and even her great-grand babies.
Gertrude was an excellent seamstress and an awesome cook. Having a close relationship to her sisters was very important to her. She especially enjoyed Sundays at her church with “old gospel music”.
After living in Zillah for 65 years she moved to Snohomish Co. to live with Joe and wife Gwen (Pasyear). Later on mother went to live at an Adult Family Home, “Country Comfort” and it certainly was that. She received wonderful care and was very content with her new found friends. Special thanks, to Scott, Colleen and Theresa.
