Gerald Shafer

Gerald “Jerry” Frank Shafer passed away on May 29, 2015 at Good Samaritan in Yakima, WA. He was born on March 3, 1939 in Seattle, WA to Esther & George Shafer. Jerry attended Wide Hollow Grade School & West Valley High School. During his school years he was active in 4-H and the Yakima Junior Sheriff Posse. He served in the US Navy, receiving a medical discharge. He loved horses and spent many years caring for, training and racing them at northwest tracks. Jerry is survived by his son, Monty Shafer of Othello, WA, sisters, June (Ted) Cummings, Joann Bealuaurier, grandchildren, Dustin and Daniel Shafer of Helendale, CA and John Ross, of Toppenish. He was preceded in death by his son, Dan, wife Nadine, and parents, Clifford and Esther Shafer. At his request, no formal services are planned.
