Gerald Lansing

February 8, 1931 — April 11, 2018

Gerald “Jerry” Lansing, 87, of Yakima, passed away on April 11, 2018 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was welcomed into his heavenly home by his Lord and Savior and his beloved daughters, Toni and Tori. Jerry was born in Malone, WA in February 1931. He graduated from Elma High School in 1949. After graduation, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force for four years in the Korean War. Jerry spent 45 years in a banking career working for Seafirst Bank, and Rainier Bank, retiring as a Vice President. Jerry married Marilyn “Mikki” Anderson in June 1961, in Olympia. He was a wonderful family man who loved people. He is remembered by his friends and relatives as a tall, meticulous, well-dressed man, full of smiles and laughter. There was never a dull moment with Jerry and he possessed an unbelievable quick wit. Jerry loved gardening, cooking, puzzles, and trivia, but most of all he cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was a constant and positive influence and deeply involved in his grandchildren’s lives, moving to Yakima to be closer to them when Mikki retired. Jerry was a person that got along with everyone and always brought laughter. Mikki and Jerry spent years judging scholarship pageants in Washington State and were the Executive Directors of the Miss Skagit Valley pageant. They enjoyed the travel and interaction with many contestants and families during those years. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents O.C. and Evelyn Lansing, and his two beautiful daughters, Toni Wagner and Tori Ticknor. He is survived by his loving wife, Mikki Lansing; four grandchildren, Austin Wagner, Jacqueline Wagner, Brittany Asselin, and Natasha Ticknor; and his son-in-law Glen Wagner. The family would like to thank Pastor Ken Williamson for his compassionate loving care. We appreciate the wonderful services provided by Yakima Hospice, and especially his loving caregivers, Marci, April, Kelly and the many staff of ResCare, all of whom provided support to Mikki and comfort to Jerry. Thank you to our friend, Danielle Surkatty, for her years of support in all things. A celebration of Jerry’s life will take place at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church (7809 Tieton Dr. Yakima) on Thursday, May 3rd at 11am. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
