George E Harris "Daddio"
Our Daddio/Grandpa is with Jesus in Heaven. George was born to Jack and Bonnie Harris on 10/21/35 in Pomona Calif. "Daddio" was the Middle of 3 boys. He raised us 3 girls, Katherin Renee Harris, Jessica (Ron) Duffield and Georganna (John) Parkinson; also surviving are 5 grandchildren, and brother David. His older brother Jack precedes him in death. After graduating from Pomona High school, "Daddio" served a short time in the army. After his 1st daughter was born, he moved to Yakima and resided here the past 50 years. Owning his own business, George's Auto Repair, "Daddio" spent endless hours fixing and restoring vehicles. He enjoyed spending time in the shop mentoring those in AA. Throughout his years, "Daddio" sponsored 100’s of people. He would listen, teach, encourage and share his life helping others. "Daddio" especially enjoyed time with his friends Randy and Steve, his nephew Heath and grandson Jeremy as they would work in the shop. He also enjoyed long talks with his friend Becky.
Growing up, our summer nights were spent at the Yakima Speed Way. "Daddio" would let us hang out in the pit as he worked on Randy's race car. We would go camping, fishing and play at the beach in Cambria Calif. Nights at home "Daddio" would sing, play his mandolin and harmonica. He devoted his life to raising us girls on his own. He taught us about Jesus, right from wrong, how to help others and to always better yourself. In the words of our "Daddio", love you like you, up and down Charlie Brown, see you later alligator.
Viewing will be 10am--2:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Ln. Yakima).
