George Green, age 90, of Yakima passed away on June 24, 2017. He was born in Alva, Oklahoma to the late Walter George and Bertha (Sailor) Green.
George grew up in Kansas during hard times. He joined the Navy for WWII because he wanted to see if Southeast Asia “really looked like the pictures”. He served as a boiler tender during the latter part of WWII and again during the Korean Conflict.
After WWII he moved to Washington State, where he met and married Betty, the love of his life. After the Navy he was a locksmith for some time and then a truck driver until he retired due to back problems.
George loved driving his motorhome, seeing the country and his many friends, camping, fishing, home projects, and spending time with family.
George is survived by his daughter, Marilee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his son, Leroy.
