Fern Hennessy (Crawford) peacefully passed away February 26th at age 88 after a years-long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on March 5, 1928, in Ava, Missouri, to Lillian and Everett Crawford. Their family of eight moved to Yakima, Washington, when Fern was ten years old. She married John Hennessy on July 6, 1948, and they raised five children in Yakima. She is survived by her husband, John; sons Mike (Susie), Dan (Linda), Pat (Diane); daughter Joanne (Scott) Morgan; sisters Norma Friberg and Margaret Decker; brother Robert (Margie) Crawford; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by brother James, sister Wilma, and son Mark who passed away in 2004.
Fern was a dedicated and wonderful mother and grandmother with a kind and generous soul. She was never judgmental and loved her family unconditionally. In return, she was genuinely loved by family and her many friends. Fern was a talented cook, gardener, business accountant, farmer, singer, and quilter. She was active in the Holy Family Church and Choir and in Saint Paula’s Guild.
A Memorial Mass will be held March 24th at 10:30 at Holy Family Church Chapel (5315 Tieton Dr., Yakima) with a reception to follow. A graveside service will precede the mass at 9:30 at Calvary Cemetery.
