Genendell Baughman

October 4, 1942 — April 20, 2024

Genendell (Leslie) Baughman went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2024. She was born on October 4, 1942 to Otto and Faye Leslie in Ada, Oklahoma and moved to Washington with her family in the 1940s. She attended Highland High School in Cowiche, Washington. In 1959, she met Loss Baughman and they fell in love and married in 1959. Soon they started a family with a son, Curtis, and a daughter, Sarah. Genendell worked in various orchards with Loss also at several fruit warehouses for many years. In the early 70s, they were able to buy their first orchard located outside of Zillah, Washington. Zillah was their home for 50 years until retiring in 2021 and moved to Yakima, Washington. She loved to travel with Loss, making several trips to Arkansas and their favorite getaway, the Oregon Coast. They also loved to spend time in the mountains; camping, hunting, fishing, riding horses, and just enjoying the outdoors. Most everything they did was done with family. Much time was spent with their kids, grandkids, and extended family. She loved to tell stories. And loved to share Chickasaw Heritage with them. Genendell was preceded in death by; her parents, Otto and Fay Leslie and her brother, Calvin (Tammy) Leslie. She is survived by; her husband of 64 years, Loss; son, Curtis (Ree) Baughman; daughter, Sarah (Larry) Friedrich. Brothers and Sister; Judy Battan, Jerry Leslie, and Ted Leslie. Grandchildren, Megan (John) Putnam, Jeremiah (Amanda) Baughman, Justin (Danielle) Baughman, Kyle (Desmin) Friedrich, and Jake (Ashley) Friedrich. Great-grandchildren, Kaylie & Kaden Putnam, Brielle, Charlotte, Jax and Bodhi Baughman, Emmett Hudson, Georgia and Allie Friedrich. Viewing will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Zillah on Friday, April 26th, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Graveside will be held at Zillah Cemetery on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Sharing of memories and deserts to follow at the Zillah Nazarene Church.
