Gaylene Boss

September 5, 1945 — March 9, 2018

Gaylene Kay Boss passed away on March 9, 2018 in the presence of her loving husband, children and grandchildren by her side. Gaylene was born on September 5, 1945 in Genoa, Nebraska to Oren and Marcella Cobb. She married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life and best friend, Jack Boss on October 20, 1963. They had two children, Scott and Jolene. In 1979, they moved their family to Washington State. Although Gaylene was diagnosed with MS in 1976 she never let it slow her down and living her life to the fullest. Early in married life she liked to bowl and enjoyed playing cards with close friends. She loved to fish with her husband, when she wasn’t breaking the tips off her fishing pole. The family went on vacations every year to see new sites and visit family and friends. As Gaylene’s MS symptoms worsened, she needed full-time care which her devoted husband did unconditionally. During her 41-year journey with MS she was the pillar of strength, perseverance, grace and dignity. She never wanted or accepted anyone’s sympathy. She would tell everyone she was blessed and had a wonderful life full of love, fun and adventure. She had a smi9le on her face and took life in stride. She never took life for granted and never complained. She was just grateful. Her passion was her life with her husband and her growing family having added grandkids and great grandkids. TJ and Kendall treasure the memory of Nanny watching them play sports, the holidays, laughing with them and spoiling them every chance she had. Gaylene is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Boss; son Scott Boss; grandchildren: Jason, Zach and Jordan Boss; daughter Jolene (Darryle) Boss Pleasant; grandson TJ (Ambria) Boss; great grandchildren Nya Boss and Zeo Boss; granddaughter Kendall (Derek) Kihn; great grandchildren Kamden Kihn and Paetyn Kihn; brother Darrell (Cindy) Cobb; sister Verlene Elm and mother Marcella Cobb. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, father Oren Cobb and grandson Johnathon Hull. You were stronger than anyone… You were looked up to by all… You were adored by most… You were loved by us. Graveside service will be held through Valley Hills Funeral Home for family members at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima, WA. Viewing will be held from 4pm-7pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (2600 Business Ln., Yakima).
