Gary Rowland

Gary Allan Rowland, 61, passed away January 3, 2016 at home in Selah, WA. He was born October 4, 1954 to John and Dolores Rowland in Everett, WA. He grew up and attended school in Sedro Woolley WA. Gary was a member of Labors’ Local Union 348. He worked in construction for 36 years and most of those years at the Hanford Site. Gary enjoyed doing many different things in his life, including team penning and he loved his horses. He enjoyed camping and looked forward to setting up elk camp and hunting every October. In 2006 he bought a boat and was on the river fishing at every opportunity. He was a great fisherman and enjoyed these times on the water with his many “fishing buddies”. He especially loved spending time with his family. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He loved so many people and so many people loved him. He was the most wonderful man. He was a good friend to many and will be missed by all. Gary was preceded in death by his father, John F. Rowland. He is survived by his wife, Shannon; mother Dolores Rowland; sister Lori Skiles (Bruce) ; brother Brian Rowland; his children: Kiley Roesch (Cody), Robert Nilsen, Mark Nilsen(Monica), Michael Abken (Natalie), Joshua Abken; his grandchildren: Luke, Nathan, Timothy, Christopher, Sara, Robert, Osten ,Jaden and Benjamin; his nieces: Nicole Walsh, Ashley Skiles, Kelsey Hazen, Whitney Thompson, Haley Rowland and his great-nieces, great nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held for Gary, Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 2 pm. Valley Hills Funeral Home, 2600 Business Lane, Yakima Washington.
