Gary E. Donaldson joined his dad and brother on April 12, 2023 at the age of 54.
His early career included roles at US West.
Later, he was the longtime manager of Neighbours Nightclub in Seattle, where he helped create a safe and welcoming space for a generation of patrons. He went on to help at The Pastime in Selah where he was able to continue doing what he loved.
Gary's passion for travel was also a defining aspect of his life. He was known for his adventurous spirit and his eagerness to explore new places with his best friend, Patrick. He somehow always managed to have a hilarious misadventure which would turn out to be a highlight of the trip. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas with friends and family.
Gary enjoyed spending time with family and planned most of the large holiday get-togethers. You could find him in the kitchen, cooking and coordinating a delicious meal and chatting with family.
Throughout his life, Gary worked tirelessly to support and uplift the LGBTQ+ community. He was a true advocate for equality and acceptance, and his dedication and passion will be sorely missed. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the impact he made in creating a more inclusive world.
He had a lot of his parents wisdom and character; he was the go-to person when anyone had a problem, whether it was something electronic or emotional—Gary could fix it. He will be remembered as kind, caring and generous.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him, he was one of a kind.
Gary was preceded in death by his dad, Bob, his brother, Rod, and his Aunt Sue and Aunt Kay.
Gary is survived by his mother, Loy Donaldson, his brother, Roby Donaldson, his sister, Brenda Holbrook (Roger), his nieces and nephews, and his great nieces and nephews.
