Gary M. Broetje passed away September 5, 2022. Gary was born March 17, 1950, in Yakima, Washington, to Elden and Leona Broetje.
Gary was a member of Yakima Evangelical Church while growing up, attended Summitview Elementary and graduated from West Valley High School.
Gary was diagnosed with onset of early childhood diabetes; but thanks to the dedication of his mother, he learned how to manage daily insulin, a balanced diet
and lifestyle, which their whole family supported by eating what he could eat.
Gary worked as a loyal, dedicated machinist for Decoto Aircraft for 37 years, until he retired.
He remained a resident in the Yakima area his entire life.
Gary’s real passion was cars! He loved working with his hands. He built a big shop behind his house where he and his two best friends, C.J and Tim spent countless happy hours patiently working on cars. They also loved spending time together going to car shows and auctions, and seeing each other during holidays.
One of the last cars he restored was a 1959 corvette for his niece Sara.
When Gary’s sister Nancy died, he brought her three dogs home with him, and lovingly took care of them until their deaths.
Gary is survived by one daughter, Michelle Hall, husband Brad, and their two children Hailey and Ryan of Yakima. Gary leaves behind two brothers,
Kenneth Broetje and his four children: Maryann, Stacia, Beth and Sean all of Selah; and Ralph Broetje, wife Cheryl, and their children Suzanne, Sara,
Sonya, Sangeeta, Sanjay, Ajay, Shaun, Trevor and Tyler.
Graveside service is scheduled for Monday, September 19th, 2:00 in the afternoon, at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be given to your favorite charity.
