Frank Sliger, 95, of Yakima, WA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Avamere at Englewoods Heights Memory Care facility in Yakima, WA. Born in Yakima to Jewell Sliger and Birdie Sliger (Wheeler). The eldest of two sons with Gail Sliger being the youngest. Frank and his brother grew up in east Yakima on and around Sliger Road. Hunting and fishing along the river and ice skating on the ponds.
Frank met the love of his life Patricia Ubelaker through friends at Moxee High School. Together, they cruised the valley in his '37 Ford coupe. Frank joined the Air Force in 1950 and shortly thereafter married Pat and had 3 children: Linda, Joe and Tom. Living on Sliger Road, he worked as a carpenter in Local 770, as well as helping his dad in the boat shop. A member of the Yakima Rifle and Pistol Association, Frank shot small bore rifle and acifeco pistol. He was an avid hunter and horse man. With many trips to the Cascades hunting deer, elk and bear.
Frank learned to fly in 1969 and bought his beloved Mooney Executive in 1970, flying all over the west coast. Working for W.W. Nettleship, Frank built the Kmart here in Yakima and then all over the west coast for various contractors making some most interesting friends. While in California, Frank and Pat joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In the late 70's, he got the bug to ride motorcycles. He and Pat rode all over the southwest on their motorcycle.
Frank retired in 1995 and decided to come back home to Yakima, where they built a home in Terrace Heights. Frank became interested in building and flying model airplanes with his boys. He was a member of Yakima's Valley Aero Modelers. He served many years on the board of the Terrace Heights sewer department. In the latter years, he enjoyed fishing for as long as he could.
Those preceding Frank in death are his wife Patricia, his father Jewell, his moth er Birdie and his brother Gail.
Those surviving Frank are his children Linda Sliger; his two sons, Joe Sliger (Josie) and Tom Sliger; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and he was expecting his first great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Terrace Heights Ward 105 S. Hillcrest Dr. Yakima, WA. at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
