Francisco Solis

January 29, 1941 — September 18, 2018

Francisco (Kiko) Lira-Solis III passed away at his home on Sept. 18, 2018. Francisco was born to Francisco II and Ester Lira-Solis in La Grulla, TX on Jan. 29, 1941. His early education was in La Grulla, TX. His family of 7 brothers and 2 sisters were migrant workers and traveled to Washington state to work. They eventually made their home in Washington state. In 1964, he married Monica Martinez and they lived in Buena, WA. Together they had 3 children: Letty (Joe) Garcia of Hermiston, OR, Blanca (Monk) Lundberg of Mabton and Francisco III (Miranda) Solis of Yakima, WA. Monica passed away in 1989. Francisco had 2 other children previously: Luis Solis of Brownsville, TX and Cathy Briggs of Yakima, WA. In 1994, he married Maria del Viento in Sunnyside. They resided in Benton City. During the winter months, they would travel to Colima, Mexico. His haven was resting at the beach, and eating fresh seafood. Kiko was a jack of all trades. He was a great believer and had a servant’s heart and would always help someone in need, and never expected anything in return. His faith in the Lord was in his heart. Kiko will be missed but we know he is in a better place, with all those who have passed before him. Francisco is survived by his wife Maria del Viento-Solis, his children and grandchildren, Eric Solis-Garcia, Adriana Garcia, Ileana Garcia-Kestner, Bresyda Garcia, Travis and Tyler Nash, Francisco IV and Devin Solis; great grandchildren: Tlalli Monica & Maximus Solis and Christopher (Bear) Jr. Kestner. He was preceded by his sister Lucinda, and 4 brothers, Herman, Horacio Laco and Roy Solis, and his parents.
