Frances “Kay” Sager, 80, of Toppenish, Washington, passed away on September 12, 2025, at Arcadia Medical Resort of Parkside in Union Gap, Washington.

Kay was born on December 10, 1944, in Wapato, Washington, to Abner Jackson (Mark) Markham Jr. and Anna Alice (John) Markham. She grew up in Toppenish and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1963. She went on to attend Yakima Community Business College, where she earned her AA Certificate.

On January 4, 1969, Kay married Robert Lynn Sager. Together they shared 56 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, hard work, and many cherished memories.

Kay worked as a bookkeeper for Lumbermen’s (formerly McGuire’s Lumber) for 45 years. Her dedication, accuracy, and steady presence made her a trusted colleague and friend to many.

Beyond her career, Kay was a longtime member of a Bunco Club, playing with friends for over 25 years. She enjoyed card games such as Pinochle, Hand and Foot, and Dominoes with both family and friends. She enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, always eager for updates and milestones. She found joy in feeding and watching the wild rabbits that made her yard their home, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, working on puzzles, antique shopping, going to the beach, and boating, fishing and camping with Bob.

Kay is survived by her husband, Robert Sager; son, Jason Sager, and wife, Nancy Hartman of Moxee, Washington; daughter, Amanda Sloan, and husband, Daniel Sloan of Burlington, Washington; six grandchildren, Cody and Ashlyne Sager, Boe and Luke Hartman, and Maxx and Dagny Sloan; two great-grandchildren, Parker Sager and Delilah Sager; sister-in-law, Judy Markham; brother-in-law, Randall Sager, and wife, Tracy; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 218 W. 3rd Street, Wapato, Washington. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Fullbright Park and Agricultural Museum, 4508 Main Street, Union Gap, for light refreshments and the sharing of memories.
