Frances Leona Criswell, age 94, of Yakima passed away on February 20, 2019. She was born to Fred and Hazelle Brock on June 17, 1924 in Marmot, Oregon. A short time later the family moved to Portland where Frances attended school and along with her studies enjoyed basketball, softball and tap dancing. While still in her teens, Frances met the love of her life Casey Criswell and they were married on February 21, 1942, right away starting their family with the birth of a daughter, Florene. During WWII Casey and Frances, with Florene in tow, moved to Yakima to find work in the fruit industry. That eventually led Frances to Snokist Growers where she worked seasonally for many years until her retirement. A few years after moving to Yakima Casey and Frances added to the family a son, Michael.
Frances was blessed with a granddaughter Shelly; two step grandsons Michael and Brent; two great grandsons William and Luke; three great granddaughters Mystery, Jaela, Lauren; and two great great grandchildren Zariah and Waylon.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, a brother and her husband Casey.
Frances was a gentle soul with a sweet loving spirit. Her greatest joy in life was her family and extended family of friends. She truly loved us all. May her example live on in the hearts and lives of those of us touched by her.
Viewing will be 2pm-5pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (Yakima). A Funeral Service will be 10am Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at West Hills Memorial Park.
