In Loving Memory of Frances D. Chambers
April 4, 1957 – October 21, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, step mother, grandmother, and friend, Frances Diane (Balzer) Chambers, who peacefully departed this life on October 21, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born on April 4, 1957, in Yakima to Clarence and Marietta Balzer, she was the second of five children. Frances graduated from Wapato High School in 1975. She married her husband, Mark “Mercry” Chambers on May, 11th, 1996. In total, they were together for over 40 years.
Throughout her career, she worked as an Office Administrator at various businesses in the area.
Frances was such a kind hearted spirit. She loved and cared for people and always wanted to help them. She thought of others before herself. She brightened the lives of all who knew her.
In her early years, Frances enjoyed spending time with her family, her special aunts, uncles and cousins. They all meant the world to her.
Frances loved spending time with her husband, Mark “Mercry”, and their family fishing and boating at Silver Beach Resort on Rimrock Lake and at Rainbow Beach on Twin Lakes in Ichelium, WA. She also enjoyed painting and was quite good at it.
In April of 2009, Frances had a stroke, which left her with aphasia. This affected how she communicated. This changed her life forever. Throughout all of her challenges, she continued to remain positive. Even with all that she had been through with her life, she was never mad, she just tried to deal with it by saying, “It’s my life”. She would just prepare for the next steps and deal with it instead of becoming angry and bitter. This is a great example for people to try to follow.
Frances was blessed to have a wonderful family. Frances is survived by her family; mother, Marietta Balzer; brothers, Cary (Nancy) Balzer, Jack Balzer, sister, Jeannia (Mike) Stanley; nephew, Ben (MacKenzie) Balzer, niece, Nicole (Paul) Varnell; great nephews Logan and Cameron Varnell; great niece, Olivia Balzer and great nephew Tommy Balzer.
Frances’ kids that she thought of as her own; stepdaughter Kim (Mike) DeHart; stepsons Jake (Jennifer) Chambers and Scott (Jennifer) Chambers; and eight cherished grandchildren; Weston and Walker Osborne, Shelby, Natalie, and Izzy Chambers, and Finley, Elliott, and Maeve Chambers. She also leaves behind her two beloved cats, “Big Boy” and “Little Boy”, whom she referred to as her kids too. She also has aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark “Mercry” Chambers, father, Clarence Balzer, brother, Tom Balzer and best friend forever, Debby Wofford.
A special thank you to her great friends, Doris and Dave Roth, Patty and Jack Mondor and the whole Wofford family. Frances’ family can’t thank everyone enough for always being there for her and to help to make her life happier. Strawberries, Strawberries – Happy, Happy, Happy!
Frances’ life was filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. She was a strong, compassionate, and loving woman who always put others before herself. Her warmth, and generosity, touched the lives of everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Frances leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
