Florentino Martinez 64 of Prosser Washington passed away on January 6, 2015 peacefully with his family by his side. Florentino was born July 23, 1950 in Rio Bravo Tamulipas, Mexico to San Juana Capetillo. As a young boy he attended elementary school in Mexico. In May of 1972 he married Sandra Martinez and together they had eight children. Florentino worked as a farm laborer in the lower valley and for Lyle Farms as a tractor driver. He was also delivered papers for the Yakima Herald for ten years. Florentino loved fishing, working on cars, going to flea markets, watching Novelas, spending time with his grand children. Playing pool was one of his favorite past times even winning several trophies, which he was so proud of. Flortino is survived by his wife of 42 years Sandra Martinez of Prosser, Mother: San Juana Capetillo of San Carlos Coahuila Mexico, Sons; Hijinio Noe (Megan) Martinez of Prosser, Florentino Anibal Martinez of Grandview, Juan Manuel (Tonia) Martinez of Yakima, and Valentin Omar Martinez of Prosser. Daughters; Bernardita Regina (Adrian Villalba) Cortez of Yakima , Criselda Olivia (Oscar Gomez) Perez of Prosser, Luz Yadira (Michael Lipp) Martinez-Lipp of Toppenish, and Rocio Valeria Martinez of Prosser. Brothers; Francisco Flores of Pasco, Pablo Zamarripa of Pasco, Alejandro Alvarez of Texas. Sisters: Petra Ramos of Sunnyside and Imelda Alvarez-Guerra of Texas. and16 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers; Cruz Flores and Juan Manuel Pruneda-Capetillo. Viewing and visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday January 14 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, followed by graveside services at the Grandview Cemetery. A reception will be held at The Eagles in Prosser following graveside services. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of all arrangements.
