Florence Annie Jorgensen passed away peacefully at Harmony House on August 31, 2019. Florence was born February 12, 1929 in Quitman, Louisianna to James Hermie Rasberry and Willie Mae Rasberry. She was the only girl out of 8 children. Her brothers called her Sissie. She liked to tell the story of when she was a little girl she cut her own hair very very short so she would look like her brothers. In 1952, with her 2 young children and many other family members she moved to the Yakima Valley. She married Lavern (Vern) Jorgensen in 1954. They moved to Zillah and lived their entire married life there. Florence loved to read and could sew anything. She made wedding dresses, costumes for dance groups, and almost all of her clothes including her own underpants because "they just fit better than store bought". She was preceded in death by her husband Lavern in 2008, her parents "Mama" and "Papa", brothers Ted, Johnnie Ray, Edward and James. She is survived by her children Edward Jorgensen of Yakima, Michele Hudson of Spokane, Dean Jorgensen (Debbie) of Zillah and brothers Gene Rasberry, Dale Rasberry and Donnie Rasberry and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to Cora and Pam at Harmony House who provided loving care during the last 2 years of her long journey with Alzheimers. Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. No services will be held. A family remembrance will be scheduled at a later date.
