Faye Wetmore

March 14, 1941 — January 4, 2015

Faye Wetmore, 73, of Yakima, very peacefully passed away on January 4th, 2015, at The Cottage In The Meadow, with her daughter by her side. She was born on March 14, 1941, in Richland, WA to Ralph and Zelma “Mary” (Jones) Long. She graduated from Yakima Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in Accounting, after being on the Dean’s List throughout college. She married Darrell Wetmore, who preceded her in death. Faye was a hard worker and very independent, who lived on her own for many years, and just prior to her passing. She was extremely passionate about gardening and thrived outdoors. She was a generous person who often gave the produce away from her garden. She owned and operated Jerry’s Gun Shop for many years, where she enjoyed mounting scopes and sighting in the guns for her customers. She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Chartrand, and her brother, Richard Long. She is also survived by her BFF, Shirley McGrath. She is preceded in death by her three-year-old son, Terry R. Long, in 1962, her husband Darrell Wetmore, her brother Jerry Long, and her sister in law, who was like a sister to her, Bobbi Long. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, January 13th at 10:30 AM at Valley Hills Funeral Home, in Yakima. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Cottage In The Meadow, for their compassionate care & support. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
